Being out in nature comes with many health benefits, but most importantly, we want you to have a great and memorable time as you explore. Whether it's hiking, biking, or canoeing, each activity gives you a different perspective to observe and enjoy your time outdoors. You will notice different things, see varied wildlife, and experience a unique kind of regeneration. And yes, the time of day and the changes in weather both contribute to the variety of experiences you can enjoy.

Canoeing

Explore the beautiful Lake Värmeln while you quietly glide through the water in a canoe or kayak. You will experience the many small islands and rich bird life from a totally different perspective. There are small hidden sandy beaches for swimming, and large rocks for sunbathing and relaxing, and you may even catch a glimpse of an osprey.

Biking

With the wind in your hair and sun on your face, enjoy the small back roads and idyllic nature surrounding Hagegården. Bring a picnic and find a beautiful quiet place in the forest or by the lake to stop and eat.

Hiking

Just a stone’s throw from the hotel is the forest with paths to wander, and many places where you can find a spot for forest bathing and reflection, while letting nature reset your mind and body. Explore one of the many hiking trails over the Brunskog Mountain. At the top, Lake Prästtjärnen is a great spot for a picnic.

Relax

In our fast-paced world, taking time to relax is essential for both mental and physical well-being. It allows you to recharge, reducing stress and enhancing productivity. When you step back from your busy life, you foster creativity and clarity, enabling better decision-making. Moreover, downtime can improve your sleep quality and immune function, making it easier to fend off illness. Engaging in leisure activities not only nurtures your relationships but also boosts your overall happiness. Spa

To melt away tension and stress, enjoy our large outdoor jacuzzi and relax area. Or simply listen to the sounds of the birds while relaxing in a lounge chair with a good book and a glass of alcohol-free bubbly.

Forest Bathing​

Wander along a trail in the sun-dappled forest. Sink down on a moss-covered log. Experience shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing. Forest bathing boosts mental clarity, reduces stress, enhances mood, and fosters a deep connection with nature.  Feel your mind quieting and your pulse slowing as you listen to the birds, feel the breeze, smell the pines and see the calming green of the forest.

Lakefront Leisure

Swing gently in a hammock as the sunlight filters through the trees, lounge in a chair with a good book, have a picnic or take a refreshing dip in the Lake Värmlen. Just down the hill from Hagegården lies our lakefront peninsula where guests can experience the relaxing effects of the waterfront.

Minigolf

You have free access to a 12-hole minigolf course at our sister property Bergamon. Here you will also find a grill place and picnic area for enjoying your lunch pack. Gather your friends and hit the course, where laughter and friendly competition strengthen your connections!

Klässbols Linneväveri

Klässbol's Linen Weaving Mill

Klässbol's linen weaving mill is a family business dating from the late 19th century. Klässbol and linen are synonymous with quality and we love the strength of natural products. We have been a royal court supplier since the 1970s and we collaborate with nationally and internationally recognized designers, which has resulted in several design awards. Among other things, we are also responsible for linen tablecloths and napkins for the Nobel banquet.

Brunskogs Hembygdsgård

Brunskog's Open-air museum

Brunskog's Open-air museum is located on Skutboudden near Brunskog church. Here a number of events and fairs are arranged annually. The biggest event of the year is Gammelvala, where old working methods are demonstrated, interspersed with various program features.

Rottneros

Rottneros Herrgård is Ekeby in Selma Lagerlöf's Gösta Berling's Saga. It is a place full of tales, stories, dreams and visions that long to be told. Today, Rottneros Park is a unique sculpture and flower park that in combination with many activities for the children becomes a fabulous experience for the whole family.

The retreat program we offer is rooted in a well-established concept that has provided healing benefits to many individuals globally. This approach was first introduced in Ellen G. White's 1905 book, Ministry of Healing, where she emerged as a trailblazer in the field.

So far as possible, everyone seeking to regain health should immerse themselves in the countryside to enjoy the benefits of outdoor life. Nature acts as a divine healer. The pure air, joyful sunshine, vibrant flowers, towering trees, and outdoor activities within these surroundings provide vital health benefits.

Outdoor living can be the sole remedy many individuals need. It possesses an extraordinary capacity to heal illnesses brought on by the excitements and excesses of modern life, which drain and weaken body, mind, and spirit. Many yearn for nature's scenes, longing to bask in open air, delight in sunshine, and inhale the delicate scents of trees and flowers. The balsam of pine, fragrance of cedar, fir, and other trees possess remarkable health-restoring properties.

For stressed or burnt-out individuals, nothing restores health and happiness as effectively as dwelling amidst attractive country landscapes. Here, they can relax in sunlight or shade, gazing at the beautiful foliage above them. A soothing sense of restfulness envelops them as they listen to the whispering breezes. Spirits lift, strength returns, and, without realizing it, the mind calms, and pulse steadies.

Encourage people to breathe deeply of the fresh air and involve their abdominal muscles in breathing and speaking exercises. This education proves invaluable. Prescribe outdoor exercise as a vital necessity. Surround them with nature's beauty, let them witness blooming flowers and hear birdsongs. Their hearts will harmonize with the melodies, bringing relief to both body and mind. The intellect awakens, imagination soars, and the mind becomes receptive to new perspectives on life.

Nature always offers something to divert thoughts from oneself and elevate them higher. Among creation’s marvels, minds are lifted from the visible to the invisible. Nature's beauty directs thoughts toward an eternal home unmarred by imperfection or decay, free from disease and death. Nature teaches many lessons, guiding us to recognize the designer’s touch in majestic trees, grass, and flowers, encouraging us to see love in every bloom and blossom. The same love that cares for flora and fauna also cares deeply for humankind.
